Best Friends

This past Sunday was Ava's blessing. (Ava is John's sister Shelley's baby girl. She is exactly 2 weeks older than Lucy.) It was beautiful. Ava was beautiful. After the blessing, we went over to Jake and Shelley's for lunch. It was so good to see them. They live in Clearfield, which is about 45 minutes away from us, so unfortunately we don't get to see them very often. After pretty much everyone had left, Shelley decided to get the camera out and do a mini photo shoot with Ava and Lucy. It was so much fun! These two girls are definitely going to be best friends. They were so cute together! Here are a few of the pics.

Sweet Pea

I can't even begin to tell you how much fun being a mom is! I love it! Granted, it's not always fun and games, but it's all so worth it. My little girl is so funny. I know she's still growing and there is so much more to come, but everyday she is more awake and alert and making more and more cooing little baby noises. It's so cute! She's such a happy baby!. John and I feel so lucky. Speaking of John, he has been so good with Lucy. During my whole pregnancy, he was so scared that the baby was going to "explode" anytime he held her. But I think he he has surprised himself. As soon as she was delivered and cleaned, they handed her to him and any inhibition that he had about newborn babies seemed to disappear. Lucy loves her daddy and I love watching them together. He has been so good to me as well. Since I had to have a c-section, my recovery has been a little harder than we expected, but he has totally been there for me taking her when he gets home from work so I can rest and make dinner, waking up with her at night and feeding her, and so much more! I love him so much! I am just the luckiest girl in the whole world!

She's Finally Here!!

Well, our baby girl finally came. I'm writing this a little late, seeing as she's been here for a month already. Lucy Jean Matern was born on May 2, 2008 at 9:47 PM after 12 long hours of labor that ended in a c-section. Here's just a quick little update while I have some time to get online. We are so happy to have Lucy here and are so excited to watch her grow!!

We're Homeowners!!

Well! We did it! We closed on our house yesterday and we get to move on Saturday! We are so excited! No more one bedroom apartment! I'll have to post some pictures as soon as we get them. I'm still trying to get a hang of the whole blog thing!

Patience is a Virtue!

So, my due date isn't until the 12th of May, but things are progressing in a way that our little Lucy could come at any time. We are just so excited for her to be here that we're just getting a little impatient I guess. With every contraction and movement, we get excited that it's that much closer. Not only are we waiting for our little girl to arrive, we're getting ready to close on our first house this coming week. It's such a relief that we were finally able to find something after so many months of looking. If all goes according to plan, we will be homeowners by May! And who knows, we could be parents too!
