Goose and her Make-Up

So, the Goose has recently discovered make-up. My make-up. I think it's because she's been watching me put on my make-up for the play I'm in. (A little something called "A Christmas Carol" at Hale Centre Theatre.) So instead of having her sneak into mine and make a mess, I came up with an awesome solution.

All you need is old eyeshadow, blush, or powder comtainers, and finger-nail polish.

Simple.

Clean out any access make-up from containers and dry.

Then simply paint the inside of the containers with whatever colors you want, let them dry, and there you go!

Play make-up for a very happy 2 year old!

I also had some brushes that I never use so I gave those to her as well. As a result, one happy little girl.

Free is Good...

I am sooo excited about this. I personally have never used Shutterfly, but I have heard soo many good things about them and am so excited to do this? What you ask? How about 50 free Christmas cards!?! It's been a couple of years since we've done cards or had family pictures taken, so I'm excited to be able to do it this year. They're designs are so much fun and I can't wait to send these out to everyone! You want some too? Just click on this link, http://www.shutterfly.com/cards-stationery, and follow this instructions. So easy!!

They don't only do Christmas cards. Check out these other links!

Merry Christmas!

Still here...

Yes, I'm still here. Yes it's been a couple of weeks since my last Monday post. The motherboard on our computer decided it would be a good idea to die. I don't neccesarily agree with that. Having to buy a new computer so close to Christmas is not my favorite. Merry Christmas a few weeks early to me and the Mr. Bah Humbug. Not really, I just wasn't really happy about it. But I can now post again and I really didnt' care about getting anything for Christmas anyways, so it was kind of a nice bonus. Thanksgiving was amazing as usual. You can't really go wrong with turkey and mashed potatoes and gravy. It made for one very happy pregnant lady. I also braved the craziness that is Black Friday and was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it. Enough about that though, let's get to the good stuff. Family pictures. The last time we had pictures taken was when Goose was 6 months old. I figured now would be a good time to have them done again before munchkin #3 made it's debut. I had a girl from one of my old wards take them. Love her, love the pictures.

I have to give props to Jill, our photographer. It was freezing that day. Goose was awful. She was such a trooper with us. I love all of the pictures she gave us and can't wait to put these up in our house. Even ones that have me in them. Now that's saying something. More posts to come later on what's going on in our house and the wonderful craziness that is December in our home. For now, enjoy the cuteness that is my children.

(PS We get to find out what this 3rd little munchkin is on the 16th. Any guesses?)

Monday 11.1.10

Hello November!! Can you believe it? There weren't any Monday pictures last week due to my camera being MIA for a few days. But no worries, it was found and all is well in the land once again. As a result, Monday pictures! (Which are actually pictures from this past weekend because 1- I was too tires and lazy today to take any new ones and 2- I know everyone really just wants to see the kiddos in they're costumes, right?)

So greetings this fine Monday from

Cinderella, the fairest maiden in the land.

Heaven for this Goose was being able to wear this for pretty much 3 days straight.

And from my little monkey boy...

Gotta love the chubs.

Hope everyone had a great Halloween, we did.

Now onto November!!

Monday 10.18.10

Greetings this fine Monday evening from your local pumpkin patch!

From Goose, who really knows how to make a tractor look good.

And from Bubs, who I think might be slightly allergic to hay. (He gets that from his momma...) It's ok though, we got a dang cute picture!

Happy Autumn!

Monday 10.11.10

(Yes, I know it's already Tuesday...)

Greetings from

Princess Goose, who will wear this Halloween costume until the day she dies if I let her.

And from Bubs, who is trying to decide if this "crawling" this is really as cool and awesome as Mom says it is...

Maybe not...

Sitting is pretty awesome though.

Yes kids, it's true.

It's true. We're adding Matern kiddo number 3 to our fam.

No, it wasn't planned.
Yes, we were stunned, scared, hesitant, afraid.
Are we crazy?
Yeah, probably.
How do we feel about it?
We're absolutely thrilled.

I am currently somewhere between 10-12 weeks. I not exactly sure because...

1- Pregnancy really messes with your memory (especially the third time around)
2- According to when I'm pretty sure I got pregnant and when I got my positive test, I should be 12 weeks this week.
3- I had an ultrasound done at what I thought was 9 weeks and they said that the baby was measuring at 7.5 weeks, so they changed my due date.

So therefore, somewhere between 10-12 weeks. I go see my doctor this week so I'm sure I'll find out more then.

All I know is that sometime between
April 28th (first due date) and May 10th (second due date)
Matern baby #3 will be making it's way into this world.

Although this baby decided to take us all by surprise, I really should have know better than to expect anything "planned". Lucy was our "Honeymoon Souvenier" and Porter took us own sweet time to get here. Both of them had their own plans, so how could I honestly expect our 3rd child to be any different? I am a FIRM believer that "they come when they come". It's between them and the Lord. And frankly, the Lord knows us and our strengths a whole lot better than we do.

And so, in my moments of panic and thinking "I am sooo not ready for this",  I stop and quietly remind myself that this is a child that John and I have created and that has chosen us as his or her parents. How awesome is that?

Pretty darn cool if you ask me.

10.4.10

Yes, I know. I was a slacker last week. No Monday pictures. I took them, I just decided to sleep instead of blog. It was a tough decision. So...

Greetings this fine Monday from

Goose, who wanted to help with laundry today.

And from Bubs, who really needs to work on a better nap schedule because doing this for only 15 minutes at a time every 2-3 hours, is getting really old.

But he sure is darn cute when he does sleep.

I have a whole list of things I need/want to blog about but finding the time to do it is getting tricky. So I've decided to leave it up to you. You tell me what you want to hear about...

* I made "A Christmas Carol" at Hale Center Theater.

* Lucy is becoming quite the ballerina.

* Porter is 6 months old and rolling all over the place like a mad man.

* My little brother Reagan gets home from his mission in less then 6 months.

* Lucy is quite the conversationalist.

* The Matern party of 4 will soon be a party of 5...

I think that'll do.

Monday 9.20.10

Greetings this fine Monday (it may be 10:29 PM, but it's still Monday) from...

My Bubs, who's baby blues I cannot get enough of.

And from the Goose, who spent most of her day here in the "Time Out" chair...

and here in her room with the door closed cause the Mom needed a Time Out.

Cause frankly it was one of those please-go-play-in-your-room-for-a-while-so-I-can-catch-my-breath-and-put-aside-the-temptation-to-throw-you-in-the-dumpster kind of days? You know what I'm talking about. (And if not, then I must be a terrible mother...) Yeah, it was DEFINTELY one of those days.

Monday 9.13.10

My cousin Nike (Knee-kah) has 6 kids and an awesome blog called "The Dirty Half Dozen". I am constantly amazed by how she does it with 6 kids under the age of 8. I couldn't do it. I'm barely surviving with the 2 I have. Every Thursday she does what she calls her "Thursday Pictures". She post pictures of each of her kids from that day with a short caption. I love it so much that I've decided to do it myself...

So greetings this fine Monday from

My Little Crazies...

Goose, who thinks that this is a "pretty, ballerina smile".

And from Bubba, who has survived the morning thus far without too many beatings from the Goose.

(This will also ensure that I update my blog at least once a week...)

Quiet...

The kiddos are sleeping and it's eerily quiet in my house. You would think that I would be loving this right now. But it's too quiet. I have so much that I shold be doing that could easily take my mind off of it, but instead I sit here, blogging. And I'm ok with that.

My Little Ballerina

Goose has her first dance class today. There might be some tears, happy ones of course. I can't believe she's so grown up.

What happened to my baby?

( These pictures were taken for a good friend of mine who is opening up a brand new dance studio, The Learning Circle, LLC, courtesy of Kate Johnson Photography. I am also going to be teaching Musical Theater at the studio which I am so super excited about. More to come on that later...)

Why yes, it has been 2 months since I was here...

Well, not technically. I been here many a time, staring at my computer tryign to think of something witty and fun to write, but nothin'. Summer has pretty much come and gone now adn what did we do with it? I don't really remember. I spent most of my evenings doing a little something called...

It was a blast! Met some incredible people that I will love for the rest of my life. But The Husband is sure glad to have me back.

We did a lot of this...

and this...

Now that summer is over, I am determined to be back and better than ever. I'm finally getting the hang of 2 kids now and 97% of the time I love it! The other 3% of the time is when my house is a mess, my kids are crying and I am exhausted. But this is what I signed up for. (I've had to remind myself of that about 5 times today...)

New blog address...

As you can see, I've renamed our blog. And I am also going to be taking it out of the private setting for now. We'll see if I decide to keep it this way or go back to private. I have soooooo much to update on and I think I'm going to start doing things a little differently, so stay tuned!!

Slacker Mash-Up

Another month has passed and my laziness has gotten the better of me. Or maybe it's the fact that I have 2 kids that occupy most of my time...hmmm. I've been meaning to update for a LONG time, but everytime I've tried to sit down and actually do it, someone starts crying, dinner need to be made, or other daily taks need to be taken care of. But as I sit here in bed watching my 2 boys sleep, I figure this is as good time as any to give a little peak into our life this last month.

Lucy's 2nd Birthday

Yeah. Holy cow, I have a 2 year old. And boy does she know it. I love the girl to death, but boy does she know how to be two. Other than knowing exactly how and when to push my buttons, Lucy is absolutely amazing. She is so darn funny. She is talking so much and so well that sometimes I forget I'm talking to a 2 year old. She is such a good big sister to Porter and is always so concerned when he's crying.

Porter's Baby Blessing

On May 16th, we had Porter's baby blessing. It was such a beautiful day for such a beautiful event. John gave him such an amazing blessing. I feel so blessed to be married to a man who lives worthy to hold the preisthood and use it daily. It was just all around a great day full of family, friends, and FOOD!!

My Birthday

I am now 23 years old. Only 23? I feel so much older than that. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I have 2 kids! Actually, I've always felt older than people me age, and I get told quite often that I seem older than I am. John spoiled me this year. He got me tickets to "The Lion King" at Capitol Theater, took me to dinner and a movie, and let me go shopping. Oh how I love him. He is so much more than I deserve somtimes.

Smiles

Porter is now almost 2 1/2 months old. I honestly can't believe it. it has gone by so fast. It feels like we were in the hospital yesterday yet it seems as though he's been with us forever. He and Lucy both have doctor appointments this week so I'll be sure to post some stats. Porter is getting so big! And he smiles like crazy! I love it. I love this stage where you can just see them staring to try and figure things out. So fun and so cute!!

Well, it looks like my time has about run out. At least that's what Porter is trying to tell me. There is so much more going on, that this has now become a to be continued post...

Where does the time go?

I find myself asking this question everyday. Needless to say, life has gotten a bit crazier and a bit busier with 2 little munkchins. I know I said I would update after Porter's 2 week appointment, but obviously that didn't happen. So here's kind of a quick catch up. Porter is doing well and definitely gaining weight now that we have switched to bottle feeding. I tried and tried to nurse him for almost 3 weeks, but he was having trouble latching and I just wasn't producing enough milk for him and eventually dried up. I was kind of bummed that it didn't work this time around again, (the same thing happened with Lucy) but now I know that he is getting food and he's not starving from not getting enough from me. At his 2 week appointment he wasn't back up to his birth weight yet, so we can in a week later to do a weight check on him. In that week is when we started the bottle full time and at the appointment he had gained almost 12 oz! The nurses said they're happy when they gain 1 or 2 so 12 was excellent! At his 2 week appointment, we also found out he had grown an inch from when he was born! I was shocked! He's a pretty good sleeper, I really can't complain after talking to some people. And he's so much more awake all of the time now. I love it. He will be a month old in a couple of days and I can't believe how fast the time has gone and yet it feels like he's been here forever. How did I get blessed with such a good baby?

Lucy is going to be 2 on Sunday. I can't believe it. I feel kind of bad because I haven't really planned anything for it this year like I did last year, but things have been pretty crazy aorund here. John is going to be out of town on her birthday so we're going to be doing something, don't know yet, on Saturday for her birthday. Lucy has totally grown up since we brought Porter home. She loves her "baby bruder" and is constantly wanting to "snuggle" and hold him and give him kisses. It's so cute, until she's practically laying on top of him trying to get him to "snuggle" with her. I have to be sure I'm always in the room with them together because she just loves him so much! (if you catch my drift...) She is still constantly dancing and singing, loves playing with her babies, playing basketball with daddy, doing ANYTHING with daddy, and making messes for mommy to clean up. I wish I had more pictures of her to post but frankly, I can't get her to hold still long enough for me to get one! Trust me! I try almost everyday! haha Oh well, hopefully soon I'll have some of her. I love Lucy to death, even though she sure knows how to push my buttons, and I wouldn't change anything about her. she is absoluety hilarious and makes me laugh so hard. I love my girl.

I love my kids. I feel so blessed to be their mother. Being a mother is the hardest thing I have ever done in my life, but it is so incredibly rewarding. There are times when I get so frustrated with Lucy because of a mess she's made, or because of the lovely hitting and biting phase we're going through, but then all it takes is for her to come up to me, cradle my face in her hands and say "I wuv you Mommy." It absloutely melts my heart. I am by no means perfect, far from it. My house is a mess, there are dishes in the sink, my laundry room is full of laundry for me to do and put away, and there is dinner to be made, but I think I'm gonna go give my little stinker a kiss.

Wow...

I'm such a slacker. But hey, at least I'm updating now right?! Things have been, well, different to say the least. Good different though. Porter will be 2 weeks old tomorrow. I can't believe it's already been that long, but at the same time it seems like he's been here so much longer than that. He is such a good baby. He is getting so much more alert now and is awake a lot more often now. It's been so fun to watch Lucy with him. She is such a good big sister. She gets so concerned whenever he cries and has to be right there with his pacifier whenever we change his diaper. There are some times when I think she has a hard time with needing more attention, but for the most part she has adjusted so well to having Porter home.  Anyways, I'm just gonna post some pictures cause I know that's really what everyoen wants to look at anyways. Hehe.

This is the day we left the hospital.
Easter Sunday, don't mind the crazy hair, we hadn't done it yet. haha
Easter Egg hunt at Grandma and Papa Wing's house. She had so much fun!!
My awesome neighbor made this adorable hat for Lucy. It so funky, I love it!!
Lucy is always giving Porter kisses. It's so cute.
Lucy and Porter wearing matching pj's. Funny story... One of our neighbors gave us a a bunch of clothes both newborn and Lucy size and there were matching pj's. I put POrter in his and Lucy freaked out cause she thought he was wearing her jammies. So in order to calm her down, I had to change her out of the jammies she was wearing and into her matching ones. It was way funny.
Just chillin'. Wherever Porter is, Lucy is.
My sweet baby boy. He is looking so much like his daddy everyday. I love it.
It's so much fun when he's actually awake. I love his big, buggy eyes!!
Tomorrow is Porter's 2 week check up. I'm really interested to see how much weight he has gained. When we left the hospital he had lost 11 oz., but he seems so much bigger now. I'll post tomorrow when I know.

I am so happy right now to have my family all together and to finally have Porter here with us. I wouldn't change anything about anything. Yeah, it's been a hard adjustment and recovering from a c-section is never fun, but my 2 kids and my amazing husband make it all worth it.
