The Office and A Mess

So, this past Thursday was the wonderful season premier of The Office. We love this show! So we decided to have a little party for the occasion. It was way fun. My family came over, a few of my little brother's friends, and John's brother, his wife and son. I just gotta say, this show cracks me up no matter what! I love it!
In my last post, I mentioned that Lucy has discovered her toes and they are her new favorite toy. She's gotten really good at contorting her body to get them to her mouth.
She is so cute! I love her chubby little legs! She is definitely a little chunker.
K, so when it comes to dinnertime, Lucy can get VERY excited. Well, a couple of nights ago, John made the mistake of putting the spoon in the bowl and turning around. So Lucy decided to try to help herself to her food. And this is what happened. It went everywhere! All over John, all over Lucy, all over the floor. It was so funny, so of course I took pictures instead of cleaning her up. I'm such a good mom!
She was so proud of herself!

Island Park and Yellowstone

So this last weekend, we were able to go up to Island Park, ID to a cabin with John's whole family. The cabin belongs to my sister-in-laws family, so she set it all up for us. It was so much fun. We don't all get to get together very often because we don't all live very close together. It was about a 6 hour drive with the little kids (there are 3 grandkids under 18 months) , but it was worth it. The pictures I'm posting are a little out of order, but oh well!

Saturday, we were able to go to Yellowstone. I had never been there before so it was fun to see all the animals. I couldn't believe how close to them you could get. They would be right next to your car! This deer was just on the right side of the road, which was cool, then I looked to the left side of the road and there was a family of about 10 deer just chilling out. It was amazing!
Here is John and Lucy with one of the deer. They seriously were only like 10 feet away and they just sat there while we all took pictures.
We also went to see some of the geysers. It was cold and rainy the day we went, but the steam from the geysers was like our own personal heater. Although it smelt like rotten eggs...
Here's John with classic Yellowstone stop Old Faithful. I was the only one who had never been to Yellowstone before, so John's mom Suzanne made sure that I got to see Old Faithful. After a 45 minute wait, she finally went off. It was pretty cool.
Ok so, Saturday morning, the kids needed baths so we decided to see what would happen if we put them all in the bathtub together. It was quite the adventure. haha Deacon, my nephew, just wanted to play so we eventually had to take him out so we could really give the girls (Lucy and Ava) a bath.
Lucy was such a trooper on this trip. Even after being in the car for so long, she stayed happy the whole time! I was so worried that she was going to be way fussy from being in her carseat so long. She also has discovered her thumb the past couple of weeks. That and her toes are her new favorite toy.
Isn't she just precious?
Ok, I know that there a lot of pictures, but we're almost there. We also stopped by this place called Big Spring. The water was so clear and blue that you could see everything! The best part was that there were HUGE, now I'm talking HUGE fish in the spring the you could feed.

(Isn't my husband just adorable?)
This picture doesn't do it justice. It was HUGE!
Ok so we're back to Yellowstone. Yes, this is a buffalo right outside of our car! It totally took me off guard, all of the sudden there was a buffalo! Crazy! There were four of them all together, but this one was the closest one to us.
All in all, it was just a blast to spend time with our family. It was also so nice to just get away. John has been so stressed at work, so I was so happy that I was able to get him out of Utah. It was so worth it. I love my family!!

How Cute Is She!!!

How darn cute is my baby girl!!? SO cute! She's is just getting so big so fast. She's trying to figure out the whole sitting up thing, and she's almost there. As long as she doesn't distracted, she does pretty good. Here are a couple of pictures of my cute girl...

So big!
Lucy hates being on her stomach, something we're working on. She'll tolerate it for about a minute, and then that's it. This is her tolerating it.
I just had to show you her cute pants...lol
I love my baby girl so much! She brings so much joy into my life. It's just so much fun playing with her and watching her figure out this great big world.
On another note, this weekend I was able to get together with some of my really good friends from high school. It was so much fun! It was so good to see so many of my friends that have recently come home from missions and others who were home from school. It was a blast!

4 Months!!

I can't believe it! My baby is 4 months old already! Time has gone by so fast! It's crazy. She weighs 15 lbs 9.5 oz. Yep, I have quite the little chunker. haha But she is just so dang cute! I feel so blessed to have her in our lives. Being a mom is the best thing I could possibly be doing with my life. I love it so much! Lucy is just getting so big and so fun! I can't wait to continue to to watch her grow and develop!!

Canyoneering Trip

For those of you who are new to canyoneering prepare to be amazed. A quick trip rundown. The trip was initially planned to go to the Fry Canyon area, which is the very eastern edge of lake Powell, but after not being able to travel down the dirt road that had been eroded in the last flash flood we turned back to Hanksville Utah and hiked Blarney and zero gravity canyons. All the photos are of Blarney Canyon. Zero Gravity is full of water so I did not take the camera.

Let the downclimbing begin, no turning back now.
the perfect slot
John Millburn waiting for his brother Matt to rappel.
A classic long hot hike to the canyon.
Deep inside the dark slot canyon
Jason and Matt hiking in Blaney Canyon. Just enjoying the swirling sandstone.
Me rappelling into Blarney canyon.
Me, my brother Jason and my friend Matt Millburn at the entrance to Blarney Canyon. It a fun 40' rappel into the canyon.

Me putting my hands next to possible ancient Indian rock art. Although I suspect these were done by someone more recently. But the area does contain many true Indian Rock Art pictograph's.

Jack Jack?

So lately, Lucy's hair has been crazy. It's growing, which makes me happy, but it's only growing right on the top of her head and naturally will go into a little mohawk. It's so cute! And I've noticed the last week or so that she looks like and reminds me of Jack Jack from The Incredibles. Tell me what you think...

"New" Shoes and Family

So you have to know something about my husband. He loves canyoneering, hiking, and camping more than breathing. Well, about a year and a half ago, his favorite store(REI) was having a sale and so he got a new pair of hiking shoes. That's right, A YEAR AND A HALF AGO! He has never worn them cause he said that the shoes that he has now are still good. They aren't worn out yet. Haha So last Saturday we went out to dinner with his parents, his brother and sister and their spouses for his parents anniversary. And well, he had been working in the yard all day and his shoes were muddy so he couldn't wear them. That's when I walked into our room to see if he was ready and I saw him putting his "new" shoes. I was so shocked that I had to grab the camera. It was so funny. The best part though was the fact that when we got home, the shoes went right back into the box! Oh John!

Here are some pics of dinner with the fam. It was really the first time that we were able to get pictures of all the grankids on the Matern side together. It was good to just spend time with everyone!
Lucy and Daddy flying around...
The Materns and their babies.
