Yes kids, it's true.

It's true. We're adding Matern kiddo number 3 to our fam.

No, it wasn't planned.
Yes, we were stunned, scared, hesitant, afraid.
Are we crazy?
Yeah, probably.
How do we feel about it?
We're absolutely thrilled.

I am currently somewhere between 10-12 weeks. I not exactly sure because...

1- Pregnancy really messes with your memory (especially the third time around)
2- According to when I'm pretty sure I got pregnant and when I got my positive test, I should be 12 weeks this week.
3- I had an ultrasound done at what I thought was 9 weeks and they said that the baby was measuring at 7.5 weeks, so they changed my due date.

So therefore, somewhere between 10-12 weeks. I go see my doctor this week so I'm sure I'll find out more then.

All I know is that sometime between
April 28th (first due date) and May 10th (second due date)
Matern baby #3 will be making it's way into this world.

Although this baby decided to take us all by surprise, I really should have know better than to expect anything "planned". Lucy was our "Honeymoon Souvenier" and Porter took us own sweet time to get here. Both of them had their own plans, so how could I honestly expect our 3rd child to be any different? I am a FIRM believer that "they come when they come". It's between them and the Lord. And frankly, the Lord knows us and our strengths a whole lot better than we do.

And so, in my moments of panic and thinking "I am sooo not ready for this",  I stop and quietly remind myself that this is a child that John and I have created and that has chosen us as his or her parents. How awesome is that?

Pretty darn cool if you ask me.

Casey,
As a fellow mom out there who so knows what you're going through - I say this rocks. I'm so excited for you and John ... and yeah. They come when they come and that rocks. So many of those emotions you just described were a lot of our reasons for keeping Sean a secret until after his was born. No, he wasn't planned. Yes, I realize I already have had a lot of kids really fast. But, YES, I'm thrilled. You are an awesome Mom!! This baby is one lucky kid. Hope the pukes stop soon .... :)

My question... how do you know you are pregnant when you don't have a period to "miss"?

Thanks everyone! We really are excited. And Julie, I ended up not being able to breastfeed him, so I had had 2 periods. What can I say? I think my husband is pretty darn awesome...
