M.I.A...

So, we've kind of been M.I.A. lately and for this I apologize. Seussical is now done and I must admit, it is wonderful to be able spend about half a second with my husband when he gets home form work! For the past 2 months, I've been having to leave to rehearsal or a performance as soon as he gets home from work. I think he's pretty happy about having me back too. Anyways, Seussical was amazing and I am so grateful to John for making me audition for it!! I hadn't done a show in over 2 years before this one, and let me tell you how nice it's been to be back on stage doing something I love!! I have made so many good friends that I seriously hope I'm able to keep in contact with. Thanks Steph for casting me and letting me be part of something so amazing!! Thanks Tammy for giving me confidence to do something I'm terrified to do. Thanks Candice for letting me violate you, accepting the love I have for you, and for helping me with Curtains. Thanks Debbie for being so much fun and having a stinking cute baby for my baby to play with. Thanks Elisha for also being my "family" and for teaching me how to put on my eyelashes. Thanks Lorri for being my twin, my backstage/make-up/treat buddy and for the great faces on closing night. I could go on and on about every single person, but I think that might make for a very long and boring post.

As for the rest of my family... Lucy is walking all over the place!!! I love it. It's so much fun! I don't know if it's just me but it seems like literally overnight she went from being my baby girl to a toddler full of attitude. She's not a baby anymore. She's a little girl. She talks so much and loves to sing and dance. She is also the BIGGEST diva and drama queen I have ever met. She must get that from her daddy...hehe ;) Other than that, things are pretty laid back here at the Matern home. John's busy with work and scouting, Lucy is a diva, and I get to love them both and have a blast doing it! Seriously, does life get better than that? I don't think so...

She was mad because I took away a clod of dirt she was eating... I'm the meanest mom ever:)

It's almost here!! This week is Tech week when we add sound, mikes, and all of the other little details we need before opening on Friday night!! Practices have been a little crazy lately because of the weather seeing as we are performing on an outdoor stage, but it's coming together nicely. I really am so excited to start performing and for everyone to come see it. So please do come see it! It's family friendly, very funny (if you want to see a different side of me, make sure you come!), and full of the classic Dr. Seuss stories you grew up loving. I know I keep plugging myself, but it really is a great show and a lot of fun!!

I'm So Bad...

I love blogging. I really do. But I find myself reading and looking at other peoples blogs a lot more often then I update my own. What can I say? I'm just lazy! And I guess another reason would be that I have been SUPER busy lately. I don't know if I've mentioned this yet, but I'm doing the play Seussical The Musical with Midvale City right now. So I've been at rehearsal almost every night for the past 3ish weeks. It's such a fun show and I'm so happy to back on stage after a little over 2 years. It runs June 19th-27th, 7:30 PM at the Midvale City Park Outdoor Stage(7500 S 400W). It really is so much fun! If you have any questions, let me know!

Anyways, after that little shameless plug, I guess I can really tell you whats been going on around here. Well, I guess the big news is that Lucy is WALKING!! Finally! She just kind of took off last week and hasn't looked back since. She actually started on June 2nd, which made her exactly 13 months. So fun! People have told me that I was going to be in so much trouble when she started walking and that I was going to curse myslef for wanting her to walk, but I love it!! It's so much fun to watch her run around figure things out and be able to keep up with the bigger kids she plays with. She's a toddler now, not just a baby. My baby is growing up!! It's nuts! Sorry there aren't any pictures with this post, my camera is MIA at the moment. So whenever I find it adn get some good pics, I'll be sure to post them!!

Oh Wow...

So I've been really bad at updating this lately. My bad! We've just been super busy lately. So I guess I'll just do a quick catch-up for ya.

Lucy turned 1 on May 2nd!!!! I HAVE A 1 YEAR OLD!!! How crazy is that? We had a little party for her with family on her birthday that was way fun. She got so super spoiled! She's lucky we have family so close haha.

She didn't quite know what to think of the cake so we had to help her out a bit...

Overall it was a success! At her 12 month check-up we decided that she's still HUGE. She's 95% for height(31 inches), 75% for weight(23 lbs) and 75% for head. Yep, still big. But her doctor was also really impressed with how much she talks and how many words she says. She said kids her age don't usually have as many words as she does, so that was pretty cool. Here are a few: baba, mama, dada, hi, uh-oh, i-u(i love you), mmmo(more), yeah, papa, mama(grandma), and she signs "more" and "please". Sorry, just had to brag a bit about my baby girl...

Let's see, what else has been going on... John graduated!! He actually finished all of his classes in December but had to wait till now to walk. And walk he did!
He did it!!! He got his Masters Degree in Civil Engineering.Happy family...Lucy showing her support for daddy! And then Sunday was Mother's Day. John made me breakfast in bed and got me a new shirt. After church we went to visit our moms and have dinner. I just have to express how grateful I am for my moms. My mom: I love her so much! She is always there for me whenever I need her. She'll answer the silly questions about parenthood I have, I love to hang out with her and just talking to her. She is amazing!! John's mom Suzanne- another amazing woman! She has done so much for us! She is one of the most humble people I have ever met in my life. She will drop everything to do anything for her family. I feel very blessed to have married into this wonderful family.

So this weekend John had a camp out with his scouts, so I decided to finally paint our bathroom. I've had the stuff for about a month, so Friday night after I put Lucy down I went to work...

It's so cute! I really do love it! I only have one room left in our upstairs left to paint and decorate! Our bedroom! I'm hoping to have it done by the end of the month cause I'm going to be getting a new bed set for my birthday!! I'm so excited!!

Oh! And PS...My baby girl turns 1 on Saturday!!!!!! I can't believe I'm gonna have a 1 year old! Crazy!!!!!!

Going Private

So I've been debating on whether or not to do this and I think that it's probably for the best. I will be making our blog private in 2 weeks. So, May 8th. Where's Lucy?

K so this picture is from when we were in Arizona but I forgot to put it in the post with all of the other pictures. I've mentioned before that Lucy is a very active sleeper and loves to sleep on her knees and tummy. Well, while we were in Arizona, she didn't have her crib so she was all over the room at night. One morning, this is how I found her. Yes, that is the bed. Yes, her head is under the bed. And yes, she is still asleep. I went in to go check on her and I had to run and get my camera! I couldn't believe it! We were all laughing so hard!
