Canyoneering Trip
For those of you who are new to canyoneering prepare to be amazed. A quick trip rundown. The trip was initially planned to go to the Fry Canyon area, which is the very eastern edge of lake Powell, but after not being able to travel down the dirt road that had been eroded in the last flash flood we turned back to Hanksville Utah and hiked Blarney and zero gravity canyons. All the photos are of Blarney Canyon. Zero Gravity is full of water so I did not take the camera.
Let the downclimbing begin, no turning back now.
the perfect slot
John Millburn waiting for his brother Matt to rappel.
A classic long hot hike to the canyon.
Deep inside the dark slot canyon
Jason and Matt hiking in Blaney Canyon. Just enjoying the swirling sandstone.
Me rappelling into Blarney canyon.
Me, my brother Jason and my friend Matt Millburn at the entrance to Blarney Canyon. It a fun 40' rappel into the canyon.

Me putting my hands next to possible ancient Indian rock art. Although I suspect these were done by someone more recently. But the area does contain many true Indian Rock Art pictograph's.

Jack Jack?
So lately, Lucy's hair has been crazy. It's growing, which makes me happy, but it's only growing right on the top of her head and naturally will go into a little mohawk. It's so cute! And I've noticed the last week or so that she looks like and reminds me of Jack Jack from The Incredibles. Tell me what you think...

"New" Shoes and Family
So you have to know something about my husband. He loves canyoneering, hiking, and camping more than breathing. Well, about a year and a half ago, his favorite store(REI) was having a sale and so he got a new pair of hiking shoes. That's right, A YEAR AND A HALF AGO! He has never worn them cause he said that the shoes that he has now are still good. They aren't worn out yet. Haha So last Saturday we went out to dinner with his parents, his brother and sister and their spouses for his parents anniversary. And well, he had been working in the yard all day and his shoes were muddy so he couldn't wear them. That's when I walked into our room to see if he was ready and I saw him putting his "new" shoes. I was so shocked that I had to grab the camera. It was so funny. The best part though was the fact that when we got home, the shoes went right back into the box! Oh John!

Here are some pics of dinner with the fam. It was really the first time that we were able to get pictures of all the grankids on the Matern side together. It was good to just spend time with everyone!

Mmmm...Cereal
So, lately Lucy has been watching our every movement whenever we eat anything, and she'll grab our fingers and pull them to her mouth. It's way cute. So I decided to try giving her some rice cereal. I know you usually wait till they're about 4 months but she will be in a week and a half, so I figured why not! Well, at first she had a little trouble trying to figure out the spoon, but she got it eventually. Once she did, she would open her mouth and lung herself forward to get the spoon. It was so funny!! Here are a few pics of the first couple feedings.
She didn't exactly know what to think at first...
Mmm...
I know that I blog about Lucy a lot, but I just can't help it! She is so dang cute! I feel so blessed to have this little girl in our lives. She is just so funny. I love watching her everyday learn new things and figure things out. It's amazing!

Anniversary!!

So, Monday John and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary! I can't believe it! SO much has happened in the last year. Marriage, pregnancy, we bought our first house, and had a beautiful baby girl. I couldn't feel more blessed than I do. John is so amazing. I love him so much. He was such a champ during my pregnancy and is the most amazing father to Lucy. He is so good to me and I love him with all of my heart. So to celebrate, we went camping Friday night(John's idea, I figured it was the least I could do hehe). It was Lucy's 1st camping trip as well. She did so good! She loved the fire and playing with the flashlights in the tent. It was so much fun!

Getting So Big!!
I know that I haven't been very good at updating this lately. I find myself looking at other peoples blogs and then not updating mine. Well, my baby girl is getting so big. I can't believe it! Tomorrow, she will be 3 months old. I can't believe that it's been that long. It seems like it has gone by so fast. She has such the little personality. It's so funny. She's getting so good at the fake frowny-sad face. She'll be fine and then all the sudden she'll frown and look sad then she'll start laughing cause she thinks it's so funny. Speaking of laughing, Lucy is starting to laugh more and more and we finally were able to catch it on video. Everytime we've tried before, she ends up just looking at the camera and stops. But we got her a couple of nights ago. It's so cute!!
